Being at the end of the road

The Naze catches wind and salt spray off the sea from two sides, and bikes kept in Walton show it. Chains suffer badly here. A chain that is run dry through a wet, salty autumn will be finished by spring, and a worn chain quietly destroys the sprockets with it, which turns a modest job into a bigger one.

Cables corrode inside their outers, which is what causes a clutch or throttle to go heavy before it eventually sticks. Fasteners seize. None of it is dramatic, and all of it is cheaper to deal with early.

Seasonal traffic

Walton and the Naze get busy in summer, with traffic that is not expecting motorcycles. Late-season bikes often come to us with light damage from car park knocks and low-speed drops, which we can put straight, and handle through insurance if somebody else was at fault.
