Motorcycle MOT Testing in Clacton-on-Sea
DVSA approved MOT testing at £29 for class 1 and 2 motorcycles, with same-day slots and any advisories explained face to face.

We are a DVSA approved test centre in Clacton-on-Sea, and we test motorcycles, scooters, mopeds and sidecar outfits of any make.
What it costs
£29 for a class 1 or class 2 solo motorcycle. Class 1 is up to 200cc, class 2 is over 200cc, and the price is the same either way.
The DVSA sets a maximum fee of £29.65 for both classes, so £29 is under the cap rather than at it. Sidecar outfits are a different class with a higher DVSA maximum, so ring us for a price on those.
Your first MOT is due by the third anniversary of the bike’s registration, and every year after that.
If the bike fails and needs work, that is charged separately at £60 per hour plus parts, and you get a price before anything is done.
What the test covers
The motorcycle MOT is a check on roadworthiness at the time of testing. We work through lights and reflectors, steering and suspension, wheels and tyres, brakes, the frame, exhaust and noise, the drive chain or belt, the horn, mirrors, and the registration plate. Nothing is stripped down and the test is not a service, so it will not tell you whether your oil is due or your chain is close to worn out. We will normally spot those things while the bike is with us and mention them.
If your bike fails
Failing an MOT is not the disaster it feels like. Because we are a full workshop rather than a test-only centre, most failures can be put right here, the same day where parts allow. That saves you riding an unroadworthy bike back and forth, and it saves you a second test fee where the retest falls inside the allowed window.
We will always ring you before doing any work. You get told what failed, what it will cost, and what we would do in your position. If a fix can sensibly wait, we will say so.
Advisories, explained properly
An advisory is not a failure. It is a note that something is wearing and will need attention before long. We would rather walk you through the list at the counter than hand you a printout, so you know which items are worth booking in now and which will comfortably see out another few months.
