Motorcycle Repairs in Clacton-on-Sea

Repairs on all makes and models at £60 per hour plus parts, from a snapped cable to a full engine rebuild, quoted before any spanner is picked up.

Repairs in the First Bikes workshop

We repair motorcycles of every make and model, from commuter scooters to big touring bikes and classics. Some jobs are twenty minutes at the bench. Others are an engine out on the stand for a fortnight. Both get the same approach: we find out what is actually wrong, we tell you what it costs, and we do not start until you have said yes.

Common jobs

Clutches, cables and levers. Chains, sprockets and belts. Brake calipers, discs and hydraulics. Charging faults, starting faults and wiring that has been got at by someone else. Head gaskets, top-end work and full rebuilds. Crash damage put straight. Carburettor cleaning and balancing on older machines, and fuel injection work on newer ones.

If your bike has an intermittent fault that nobody has managed to pin down, that is exactly the sort of thing we like getting our teeth into. See our diagnostics page.

What it costs

Labour is £60 per hour plus parts. You get a price before the work happens, not after. Where a job cannot be quoted precisely until something is stripped, we will give you a realistic range and ring you the moment we know more. If we open something up and find the sensible answer has changed, you hear about it before we carry on.

Bought the parts yourself? We will fit them

Plenty of workshops will not touch a job unless they supplied the parts. We will. If you have already bought a part online, or you have a preference for a particular brand, bring it in and we will fit it at the same £60 per hour.

The one thing we will say is that we can only warrant our labour on a part we did not supply. If a cheap pattern part fails a fortnight later, the part is between you and whoever sold it. We will tell you honestly if something you have bought looks like a poor choice before we fit it, rather than after.

Getting the bike to us

If it runs, ride it in. If it does not, we will come and get it. Collection covers Clacton, Jaywick, Holland-on-Sea, Frinton, Walton and the surrounding Tendring villages, and we can go further for the right job. There is also out-of-hours recovery if you are stranded.

We are used to working to a deadline, whether that is a track day, a holiday, or a rider training school that needs its fleet back on the road.

Book repairs

Send the details and we will come back to you within one working day to agree a date. This is a request, not a confirmation.

No email? We will confirm by phone or WhatsApp instead.

We also open WhatsApp with your details filled in, so you can add photos or ask a question. If it does not open, we still have your request. You can also ring 01255 427851.
