Tyres and brakes are the two systems standing between you and the road surface. They are also the two things riders most often leave a little too long.
Tyres
We supply and fit tyres for road bikes, tourers, adventure bikes, commuters and scooters, including larger adventure machines like the Pan America that some fitters would rather not take on. Wheels are balanced and valves replaced as a matter of course.
Bought your own tyres? We will fit them. A lot of riders find a deal online, then struggle to get anyone to put them on. Fitting is charged at our standard £60 per hour, and we do not load the price because you did not buy the rubber from us.
If you are not sure what to fit, tell us what you ride, how far, and in what weather, and we will make a recommendation that suits it rather than the most expensive thing on the shelf.
Brakes
Pads, discs, calipers, master cylinders, hoses and fluid. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it draws moisture out of the air over time, and old fluid boils at a lower temperature just when you need it most. Two years is a sensible replacement interval and almost nobody sticks to it.
Seized caliper pistons are extremely common on bikes that live outside through an Essex winter. If your bike pulls to one side under braking, or one disc runs noticeably hotter than the other, get it looked at.

Both jobs are quick, and both sit naturally alongside a service or an MOT. Worn tyres and brakes are two of the most common MOT failures, so it is worth having them checked before the test rather than after it.
